This past Sunday, members of the Greybrook team proudly participated in the 4th annual Baycrest Bike for Brain Health charity event, riding along the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway to help raise awareness for brain health.
As Canada’s largest one-day cycling event, the Bike for Brain Health initiative welcomed thousands of riders in support of Baycrest’s mission to defeat dementia and promote healthy aging. Cyclists of all levels rode scenic routes of 10km, 25km, 50km, or 75km along Toronto’s major expressways.
Raising millions of dollars annually to combat dementia, the funds play a critical role in advancing groundbreaking research into cognition, Alzheimer’s disease, and brain health in aging populations. These contributions also support essential medical programs and services for older adults in our community, along with educational initiatives that promote healthy aging and healthcare solutions for a rapidly growing senior population.
At the heart of this mission is Baycrest, home to more than 300 dedicated researchers focused on preventing, detecting, and treating dementia—a condition that directly or indirectly affects nearly 1.1 million Canadians. While there is currently no cure, research shows that just 150 minutes of exercise per week can help delay the onset of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
It was an inspiring day marked by community spirit, stunning views, and a shared commitment to advancing world-class research, care, and innovation at Baycrest. We are proud to have participated in this meaningful initiative and remain committed to supporting this vital cause.
