Part of the Lower JCT. development, the restoration of the Tower Automotive Building (or AUTO BLDG.) was featured recently on Daily Commercial News. Highlighting how the first five floors of the space will become home to the Museum of Contemporary Art_Toronto_Canada (MOCA), the article discusses the restoration work currently underway (including sandblasting of the concrete floors and columns, and exterior brick and concrete repair), and also speaks with project’s architect, Heather Rolleston of architectsAlliance.
“The challenge for us is to do something very minimal and almost anonymous that lets the space remain this kind of handsome and robust backdrop for what MOCA wants to do,” says Rolleston, who refers to the restoration as “the front piece that will define the Lower Junction triangle.”
