Despite record-low temperatures in the city, many Torontonians braved the cold to test-drive the long-anticipated Bentway skate trail which opened to the public January 6. The 220-metre figure-eight shaped trail is free to skate on, with skate rentals available on-site for $10. The trail is only a small portion of The Bentway project, which has reclaimed and redefined new public spaces spanning 1.75km underneath the Gardiner from Strachan Avenue to Bathurst Street. Construction continues on the remaining portion of the Bentway, including connections to Garrison Crossing, which will provide access to Greybrook’s Garrison Point development, and is expected to open in summer of 2018.
