It might have seemed ambitious in 2009, but nine years later, the proposed downtown Vaughan Metropolitan Centre subway station and surrounding developments are becoming a reality. Construction is underway on several major projects, including the Vaughan Centre PwC Tower, which, in addition to serving as the new regional headquarters for the firm, will also house a new YMCA, a 10,000 square foot public library branch, and a City of Vaughan Studio Dance Space.
Construction of Transit City Condos’ three 55-storey condominium towers also began earlier this year, adjacent to the recently completed Vaughan Metropolitan Centre station part of the York Spadina Subway Extension which now provides more efficient transit access across the GTA. This area will also be home to the new $32 million SmartCentres Bus Terminal which will further enhance connectivity within the region and provide future residents of Greybrook’s Downsview Park Towns, Riverside in Pine Grove, Vaughan and Woodbridge developments with convenient transit access. Continued investment in infrastructure and mixed-use developments with community-focused amenities and public spaces highlights Vaughan as a key residential and economic destination.
