This past weekend many flocked to the cobblestone streets of Yorkville to view and take pictures with the fresh vibrant murals adorning the courtyard walls of 99 Yorkville Avenue (located adjacent to our Yorkville II development) and dispersed throughout the charming neighbourhood. The 2nd edition of Yorkville Murals was a three-day cultural event that is featured free viewings while also offering tickets to curated programming throughout the weekend. The popular event celebrates contemporary muralism and public art in the heart of Yorkville, with multiple projects based in Yorkville. We love how these art instillations add to the unique architecture and evolving beauty of the neighbourhood.
This year Canadian street artists from across the country created one-of-a-kind pieces for the event, talented artists included Jarus, Birdo, Kristen McCrea, Jacquie Comrie and Jason Botkin. The murals range from large scale murals to smaller works decorating Bell Utility Boxes and each bringing its own unique palette to Yorkville’s trendy streetscapes. If you missed the event this weekend there is still time to view these custom murals, they will be decorating the streets of Yorkville until next year’s event.
