In September, the 4th annual Velo Blu Pedal for Blu Genes returned for another successful year, raising over $440,000, the most donations in the ride’s history.

This year’s charity ride saw the highest number of participants to date and welcomed a number of new sponsors and donors. Proceeds from Velo Blu Pedal for Blu Genes go directly to help further Tay-Sachs research at SickKids. These donations will enable SickKids to fund a dedicated team of experts to focus their scientific expertise and the power of CRISPR/ Cas9 (gene technology’s sharpest tools) on the mutations of Tay-Sachs disease with the goal of correcting disease-causing mutations. This ground-breaking research may make the dream of curing inherited diseases like Tay-Sachs come true.
The real estate, finance, and development community came together once again to support this vital cause, and we at Greybrook are proud to have sponsored and chaired the Velo Blu organizing committee to support such an inspiring event. Avid and recreational cyclists took to the scenic routes of Niagara-on-the-Lake to show their support and returned to the finish line on the grounds of Peller Estates Winery to celebrate the accomplishments in this area of research supported by BLU GENES.
