Velo Blu is a sought-after charity ride for avid and recreational cyclists and is a celebratory event on a mission to advance gene therapy for rare genetic disorders.
The BLU GENES Foundation began with a personal mission to find a cure for a rare and fatal genetic disorder called Tay-Sachs disease and was soon established for the larger purpose of raising funds and awareness to advance gene therapy and find a cure for genetic disorders. Having successfully supported research in the early treatment of Tay-Sachs at the University of Massachusetts when originally founded, the charity has more recently joined with SickKids to support research focused on a breakthrough way of treating Tay-Sachs disease, that may be the key to a cure.
As active members of the BLU GENES foundation, and the presenting sponsor at the inaugural Velo Blu event and the 2021 event, Greybrook is thrilled to see this important fundraising event expand to welcome new riders and supporters to the charity ride. With a few weeks left until the event, we are very pleased to share that the Velo Blu team has raised over $400,000 in support of the important research being conducted at SickKids so that we can provide families with hope.
The Greybrook team is proud to be joining riders and non-riders along with medical professionals from SickKids who will come together on the picturesque grounds of Peller Estates Winery where riders will have the option to select a 30km or 75km ride through Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls and return to celebrate the accomplishments in this area of research supported by BLU GENES.
