Greybrook’s Christopher Kozub Honoured as 2021 Lexpert Rising Star: Leading Lawyer Under 40

November 25, 2021

Each year, Lexpert celebrates Canada’s leading lawyers who stand out as rising stars in the legal and business community.

This year, Greybrook is pleased to announce that Christopher Kozub, Greybrook Securities Inc., General Counsel has been recognized as a Leading Lawyer Under 40 as winner of Lexpert’s 2021 Rising Stars Award.

Finalists from law firms, in-house legal departments, government, and academia across Canada were nominated by peers on highly competitive criteria such as professional achievements, community involvement and client service strategy. Winners are selected by Lexpert’s distinguished advisory board of lawyers.

As General Counsel at Greybrook Securities Inc., Christopher has played a leading role in some of the most significant real estate development transactions in Canada. Christopher closely advises Greybrook’s management team concerning a broad range of legal matters, including securities offerings, investment and asset management, corporate structuring and finance, compliance, and corporate governance.

Christopher has structured many of our firm’s and industry’s most complex deals from a tri-party luxury high-rise condominium development in Yorkville, expected to be Toronto’s most luxurious address, to him successfully completing Greybrook’s first private value-add REIT investment offering, which also involved a US$68M cross-border acquisition of a 566-unit Houston multi-family rental portfolio. His unwavering professionalism and ethical standards during his career have gained him the confidence and respect of Canada’s most prominent developers and their advisors.

Chris Salapoutis, President and Chief Operating Officer at Greybrook Realty Partners said, “A remarkable example of his profession, Christopher is an incredibly talented lawyer that has been a key business partner in helping our leadership team build the business into a leading Canadian real estate private equity firm. We congratulate Christopher on this significant professional achievement and on his many contributions to the success of our firm and broader industry.”

Christopher’s shared passion for law and real estate development has fueled his achievement of impressive professional milestones and accolades. With a strong commitment and dedication to shaping the future of the legal profession, Christopher is an active member of OSC’s Registrant Advisory Committee, Private Capital Markets Association of Canada’s Executive Advisory Committee and Chair of the ACC Ontario Chapter’s Securities Law Committee.

Focused on giving back to his community, Christopher is a member of the Toronto-based BLU GENES Foundation, a charity established to find a cure for a rare and fatal genetic disorder called Tay-Sachs disease. Aiding the next generation of lawyers, he also volunteers at Osgoode Hall and the Schulich MBA program, where he has helped students develop their practical negotiation skills.
