With all the press surrounding Castlepoint Numa and Greybrook Realty Partners’ Lower JCT. development, we decided it was the perfect area to explore in our first Throwback Thursday feature. Originally an industrial district of the city, the Lower Junction neighbourhood was home to several factories including Cowan’s Cocoa and Chocolate, The Bawden Machine Co. Limited, Telfer’s Biscuits, Northern Aluminum and more.
Over time, residential communities popped up throughout the neighbourhood and now the area has evolved into a haven for Toronto’s creative community, especially with MOCCA’s upcoming move to the historic Tower Automotive Building.
