Canada tops the list of Lonely Planet’s 2017 Best in Travel Top Countries, just in time for our nation’s sesquicentennial. Comprised of ten destinations you cannot afford to miss, Canada’s 150th anniversary of confederation (and the abundance of celebrations already being planned) was one of many reasons Lonely Planet gave the Great White North top billing.
Another influential factor in Lonely Planet’s rating was Canada’s strong presence in The Economist’s ranking of the world’s most livable cities, thanks to Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary’s inclusion in the top ten. Add to that the country’s reputation for inclusiveness, which has only grown through Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s leadership, and an enticing exchange rate for most visitors due to the fluctuating dollar, and it’s easy to see why Canada is the top destination for 2017.
