The 2016/2017 Main Streets Across the World report from international commercial real estate brokerage Cushman & Wakefield found that Toronto’s Bloor Street West between Yonge Street and Avenue Road is Canada’s most expensive stretch of retail frontage. Rents along this span of Bloor average $250 USD per square foot based on a year-long lease, which amounts to $250,000 annual rent for a 1,000 square foot storefront.
It’s no wonder that many retailers have chosen to set up shop along Yorkville Avenue and Cumberland Street instead, capitalizing on the area’s niche luxury offering at comparatively reasonable rates. With the revitalization of Yorkville Village nearing completion and two Greybrook developments underway at 101 Yorkville and 140 Yorkville, it’s clear that that retail and residential landscape of Yorkville will provide an unparalleled luxury experience for years to come.
