Miami is the United States’ second strongest magnet city for millennials, according to Realtor.com’s Millennial Magnets: Top 10 Cities Where Young People Want to Be list. The property listing site’s economic data team analyzed the number of millennials viewing listings in the 60 largest U.S. cities compared to the national average from August 2016 to February 2017 to identify areas young people are flocking to for home ownership.
Short commutes and an abundance of amenities including parks, cultural centers, and good cuisine are high priorities for the millennial market as convenience trumps factors that swayed homebuyers (e.g., more indoor/outdoor living space, suburban communities) in the past.
Salt Lake City may have taken the top spot on the Realtor.com list, but Miami’s mix of stellar weather, ample employment opportunities, relatively affordable homes, and vibrant cultural scene (all steps away from the beach), make it an obvious choice for young homebuyers looking to make the most of their work/life balance.
