All Aboard Florida’s highly anticipated rail line that will connect Miami and Orlando starting in 2017 now has a name: Brightline. Announced November 9th at the construction site of MiamiCentral station, Brightline will feature a sleek black and yellow color scheme and amenities including complimentary Wi-Fi, food and beverage options, wheelchair accessibility, and even pet-friendly cars to ensure passengers travel in comfort between stations in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Orlando.
“We set out to reinvent what traveling by train can mean in America” said Michael Reininger, president of All Aboard Florida. Primarily, “a smarter alternative to more cars on crowded roads.” The 235 mile trip from Miami to Orlando normally takes four hours by car, a trip Brightline will make in three while passengers relax instead of worrying about traffic.
Launching with five, four-car trains with capacity for 240 passengers each, Brightline service is planned to double by June 2018 to ten sets of seven-car trains holding 356 passengers. The main hub in Miami will be MiamiCentral station, a mixed-use development with retail, commercial and parking, connected to local transit and minutes away from attractions such as Bayfront Park and American Airlines Arena.
